Wiki Politiki Christmas Message, 2018: It’s Christmas In the Trenches Once Again

A December 25, 2018 Rebroadcast – Originally Aired Tuesday, 18 December 2018, 5:00 PM EST

An Interview with Author David Swanson (War Is a Lie) and Activist Jul Bystrova

It used to be that the “work of heart” I most associated with Christmas was the Frank Capra movie, “It’s A Wonderful Life.” But ever since my friend Shanti Norman recorded John McCutcheon’s song, “Christmas in the Trenches” in 2000, I have held that extraordinary piece of work as best symbolizing the light that can shine in times of greatest darkness.

After World War I started in 1914, the Pope suggested a truce around Christmas time. The generals pursuing the war didn’t like this idea one bit, and in fact one of their concerns was that the enemy trenches were so close, that soldiers could hear the enemy speaking to their comrades, and even smell the food they were cooking.

What came to be known as the “Christmas truce” happened at a number of places along the front lines. As the song suggests, peace might have “broken out” due to soldiers hearing their enemies singing Christmas carols in their native tongue, and then joining in singing in two languages. As soon as the “enemy” was “re-humanized” after the dehumanization necessary to get ordinary humans to kill other ordinary humans, the trance was broken. In some cases, the truces lasted a day, in others three days. Despite this brief respite of sanity, the war continued nearly three more years, killing 18 millions soldiers and civilians and wounding another 23 million. Read more here.

The Latest REAL News on the 9/11 Attacks and Finding Truth in a Sea of Lies

Aired Tuesday, 18 December 2018, 5:00 PM EST

An Interview with Andrew Kreig, Author, Attorney, Broadcaster and Founder of the Justice Integrity Project

Did you know that In a letter dated November 7, 2018, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York notified the Lawyers’ Committee for 9/11 Inquiry that he would comply with the provisions of 18 U.S.C. § 3332 requiring him to present to a special grand jury the Lawyers’ Committee’s reports filed earlier this year of unprosecuted federal crimes at the World Trade Center?

You didn’t? That’s because mainstream media makes it its business to insure that anything that points to the nefarious doings of the real deep state is “none of its business.” The misinformation, disinformation and missing information that pollute corporate news have created the perfect field for “real” fake news to flourish.

Which is why this latest development might be a genuine breakthrough. It means a 23-member grand jury, vested with subpoena power and the authority to take sworn testimony, will hear the voluminous evidence of the World Trade Center’s demolition and will have the ability to conduct a thorough investigation that could result in indictments against suspected individuals — in other words, what the 9/11 Truth Movement has been working toward for 17 years.

Our guest this week on Wiki Politiki, journalist and author Andrew Kreig (pronounced “Craig”) will discuss his own involvement with the Lawyers Committee, as well as his work through his own organization, the Justice Integrity Project.

The Backbone Campaign Combines the Art of War and the Art of Play

Aired Tuesday, 11 December 2018, 5:00 PM EST

An Interview with Bill Moyer, Founder of the Backbone Campaign

Today’s show is about activism — in a time of reactivism.

With so much of the political discourse these days either “pro-Trump” or “anti-Trump” the one common denominator in either conversation is … Trump. As someone who feeds on media attention, he is paradoxically empowered by all the resistance and anti-Trump rhetoric.

Which leads to the question … how DOES the body politic express itself when both electoral politics and the mainstream media seems so shut down to non-corporate views? How do we assert our political will in a way that gets noticed? And how do we influence our elected officials to follow when they are unable to lead?

Our guest this week Bill Moyer, co-founder of the Backbone Campaign is a master of what he calls “artful activism” designed not just to help the Democratic Party “get some backbone”, but to empower citizens to act strategically and change the “political calculus” — i.e., to change the game from reactive to proactive. When we get ourselves off of the battlefield our opponents have already “fixed” and on to a new playing field, breakthrough can occur….  Read more here.

The Eisenhower Moment, Part II: Good Country — Activating the World’s Next Super-Power … US!

Aired Tuesday, 4 December 2018, 5:00 PM EST

An Interview with Simon Anholt, Founder of “Good Country”

Nearly 60 years ago, U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower said, “I think that people want peace so much that one of these days governments had better get out of the way and let them have it.”

I’ve been calling the times at hand “the Eisenhower moment” because we the people finally have the technological capability to communicate instantly and speak in one voice.

Last week we spoke with Australian visionary activist Andrew Gaines about what he calls the Great Transition Initiative – a citizen led educational “movement of movements” to inspire mainstream commitment to transitioning to a life-affirming culture.

A worthy intention, and a great beginning…

And, the next question is, how will this intention be manifested, populated, and turned into a tangible movement for transformation?

My guest this week, Simon Anholt, introduces a new worldwide platform called Good Country which has the ambitious intention of creating and populating the world’s next super-power — the awakening population of the world acting in one accord as one “virtual country”…  Read more here.

The Eisenhower Moment, Part I – The Great Transition To A Life-Affirming Culture

Aired Tuesday, 27 November 2018, 5:00 PM EST

An Interview with Andrew Gaines, Founder of The Great Transition Initiative

In these times of great crisis and opportunity, there’s an idea that has gotten ahold of me that I call “The Eisenhower Moment”. Nearly 60 years ago, President Dwight D. Eisenhower said, “I think that people want peace so much that one of these days governments had better get out of the way and let them have it.”

As more and more of us are coming to understand, “peace” means more than an absence of war — although that would be a terrific beginning. Peace means the end of domination, one over the other. It means fundamentally adopting and applying the Golden Rule. And more apparently than ever before, it means living in harmony with the natural world.

As the crises — ecological, economic, political, social and spiritual — seem to all be arising at once, maybe we are at that moment where a critical mass of the heretofore uncritical masses can speak in one coherent voice and say, “We want THIS.”

Certainly we have the means to communicate ideas and memes instantly across the globe, and nearly two thirds of the humans on the planet have a cell phone or personal device. That means that “humanity” can be mobilized around an idea or issue almost instantly …

Would it make a difference?

Perhaps it’s the only thing that will.

Our guest this week, Andrew Gaines, an Australian visionary, activist and systems thinker has dedicated his life to bringing about such a “movement of movements.” He is a co-leader in the Great Transition Initiative – a citizen led educational movement to inspire mainstream commitment to transitioning to a life-affirming culture.  Through a personal epiphany…  Read more here.

Radical Honesty in a Time of Fake News and Real Lies

Aired Tuesday, 20 November 2018, 5:00 PM EST

An Interview with Psychotherapist Brad Blanton, Author of Radical Honesty

I first met Brad Blanton nearly 25 years ago, when his controversial book Radical Honesty: How To Transform Your Life By Telling The Truth, was first published. Our joke at that time was that our President, Bill “I-did-not-have-sex-with-that-woman” Clinton was a practitioner of “sporadical honesty.”

We have now collectively evolved (or devolved) to a place where our current president practices “radical dishonesty”, and where paradoxically his followers consider him trustworthy because he is “honest” about being a liar. Think about it. What other politician in recent memory has been celebrated for “telling it like it is” while so blatantly telling it like it isn’t?

My guest this week, Brad Blanton will offer his “radically honest” perspective on the “shituation”, and — knowing Brad — you can expect a wild ride that will leave you both elevated but with “feet on the ground.” Brad Blanton, Ph.D is a psychotherapist, author, workshop leader, speaker, and the founder of Radical Honesty Enterprises. Dr. Brad Blanton describes himself as “white trash with a Ph.D.” Armed with quick wit and an engaging Southern accent, he speaks with an unwavering honesty that is both disarming and challenging, a quality that has earned him admirers as well as detractors. The Order of the Sacred Earth – A Truly NEW World Order to Help Us Overgrow the “Old World Odor”

Aired Tuesday, 13 November 2018, 5:00 PM EST

An Interview with Sacred Order Co-Founder Skylar Wilson

“I promise to be the best lover and defender of the Earth that I can be.”

Can taking such a vow make a difference?

Skylar Wilson, our guest on Wiki Politiki this week thinks so. He, along with Matthew Fox, the noted priest and father of Creation Spirituality, and Jennifer Berit Listug have founded a “spiritual order” for our times, the Order of the Sacred Earth.

I am reminded of a famous Gandhi quote. When asked what he thought of Western Civilization, he replied, “I think it would be a very good idea.”

While our civilization has excelled at science, technology, and the gleaning of material knowledge, we seem to be on the verge of flunking Wisdom 1.1. Ever since we put Descartes before the horse nearly four centuries ago, society has focused its attention on the material world as the be-all and end-all. And the “end-all” idea may be exactly where we are headed. Read more here.

Donald Trump Is Awakening People, Left and Right

Aired Tuesday, 6 November 2018, 5:00 PM EST

An Interview with Dr. Chuck Baldwin, Moral Majority and Christian Coalition Pioneer, and Constitutional Party Presidential Candidate in 2008

Our guest on Wiki Politiki this week is Dr. Chuck Baldwin. He is a conservative Christian minister, a disciple of Jerry Falwell and a founder of the Christian Coalition. After becoming a Republican in 1980 to support Ronald Reagan, he left the party during the George W. Bush presidency to join Ron Paul’s Constitution Party. Without compromising his conservative ideas — he is a Second Amendment advocate who believes in “open carry” — he offers his view of how and why the majority of his cohorts have taken the wrong road, and have become in his words “infatuated with” Donald Trump, whom he sees as an enemy of freedom, and everything the United States stands for. Can The Heart of the Goddess Help Us Overgrow the Dark of Heartlessness?

Aired Tuesday, 30 October 2018, 5:00 PM EST

An Interview with Hallie Igelhart Austen, Author of The Heart of the Goddess: Art, Myth and Meditations of the World’s Sacred Feminine

If there’s been any awakening in the wake of the 2016 election, it’s been the awakening of women’s power, and more recently, the Sacred Feminine. As we are more and more coming to understand, this is not just about boys and girls, boys and girls. The sacred feminine — as with matriarchal societies in the ancient world — is not about the feminine dominating over the masculine, but rather a co-equal partnership where there IS NO domination, bullying, violence or exploitation. Our guest this week on Wiki Politiki, Hallie Igelhart Austen, author of The Heart of the Goddess: Art, Myth and Meditations of the World’s Sacred Feminine, offers insight and encouragement for renewing and re-establishing the wisdom of the Goddess in our lives and world. Eastern Spirituality and Political Evolution

Aired Tuesday, 2 October 2018, 5:00 PM EST

An Interview with Meditation Teacher and Author Philip Goldberg

Ever since the era of the “moral majority” and the Christian Coalition, we have seen how religion can impact our political conversations, and national destiny. But what about those “other” religions that come from the East? Our guest this week, Philip Goldberg, is an expert on how and why Americans have flocked to Eastern religions over the past half-century, and the impact this migration has had on our national consciousness. The “Self-Health” Movement – From Conventional to “Preventional” Medicine

Aired Tuesday, 25 September 2018, 5:00 PM EST

An Interview with Author and Holistic Medical Pioneer Dr. Elson Haas

In these strange times when it’s hard to tell real fake news from fake real news, there are a lot of mixed messages coming from the health care domain. On one hand, we have big pharma and mainstream medicine promoting drugs and surgery. On the other, there are countless old and new ways to impact not just the linear activity of our cells, but also the “field” that determines how our cells behave. Getting the right distinctions can be literally a life or death decision. Our guest this week, Dr. Elson Haas, helps us sort through the hype and mythology and find out which approaches are best for you. With over 40 years of experience pursuing both mainstream and complementary medicine, Dr. Haas has been a pioneer in the “self-health” movement that helps individuals take charge of their own wellbeing. Money For People How Public Banking Can Liberate Us From the Web of Debt

Aired Tuesday, 4 September 2018, 5:00 PM EST

An Interview with Ellen Brown, author of “Web of Debt” and President of the Public Banking Institute

Our guest this week, Ellen Brown, has looked at money from “both sides now.” Her book, Web of Debt is a deep, thoughtful and sometimes playful analysis of how the banking interests have created metastasizing debt that ends up enslaving the people of the world rather than helping them thrive. Web of Debt enjoys another distinction as well. In the past, the notion that the Federal Reserve is a tool of the bankers and NOT even a federal institution was proliferated primarily by right wing libertarians. Thanks to Ellen Brown, progressives are now aware of the Federal Reserve’s dark history, including the secret meetings where a small group of bankers persuaded then President Woodrow Wilson to promote the Federal Reserve Act in 1913, a decision Wilson came to deeply regret. Hemp Is For Everyone! Agricultural Industrial Hemp Will Restore the Ecology and the Economy

Aired Tuesday, 28 August 2018, 5:00 PM EST

A Conversation with Wellbeing “Maven” Trudy Siewert Bhaerman

My guest this week is someone I’ve known for many years — my wife Trudy Bhaerman. Starting with her own initiation into healthy foods nearly 50 years ago, and then her background in holistic health and nutritional healing, Trudy is a brilliant synthesizer of diverse information, mainly focused on the health and well being of each and all. A few years ago, she began to notice the burgeoning hemp industry — and the wide variety of products that can be manufactured from hemp, some 25,000 in all! She also was reminded that growing hemp has been illegal in this country for 80 years, and that the hemp products industry here was spending some $3 billion a year to import hemp. Read more here…

Cultural Evolution As Inevitable Reality – Hope Without “Hopium”

Aired Tuesday, 21 August 2018, 5:00 PM EST

A Conversation with Jim Kenney, Author of “Thriving In the Cross-Current”

There’s a famous quote from Martin Luther King inspired by the writings of the American minister and transcendentalist Theodore Parker, “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” Of course in these days where the very present arc of the immoral universe seems bent on injustice, some skepticism is understandable. This week’s Wiki Politiki guest, author and cultural educator Jim Kenney would say that his studies of cultural evolution indicate that our current “shituation” is an eddy in a river flowing relentlessly toward greater awareness and interdependence, a “cross-current” in the course of evolution, which ultimately only flows in one direction. Revealing and Revoking the Doctrine of “Discovery”- From Domination to Reverence

Aired Tuesday, 14 August 2018, 5:00 PM EST

A Conversation with:

Native American Scholar and Activist Steven Newcomb

and Activist Visionary Shawna Bluestar

The Doctrine of Discovery … it sounds so official, so scholarly.

And yet, it has been the blueprint for not just colonization of the Americas, but for the exploitation, domination and genocide of its peoples. Our guests this week, Native American scholar and activist Steven Newcomb, and his daughter Shawna, share the awful truth of what the dominator worldview has wrought (Donald Trump seems like the cherry on the whip cream when you learn this deep history) and then point us to the awesome opportunity to heal and rise from the ashes. From Scared to Sacred – How We “Shift” Our Karma Into Higher Gear

Aired Tuesday, 7 August 2018, 5:00 PM EST

A Conversation with Stephen Dinan, Author and CEO of Shift Network

Once again on this week’s Wiki Politiki, we look to shift our focus from the fear and anger generated by Donald Trump (and those who oppose him) to creating a movement that gathers all good intentions under “one big intent” — a world that works for all. Bucky Fuller called this “the World Game” and it sure beats the alternative, the “end-of-the-world game.” Indeed, our nation and our entire species is going through an existential crisis — where we choose if we want to continue to exist, or follow our reptile brain down the path of the dinosaur. (Just think … millions of years from now, whoever is around could be running their vehicles on OUR blood!) However, if we want to be driving our own cars, and our own karma, we need to restore the missing piece — actually, the missing peace — at the center of our society, a sense of “the sacred”. This week’s guest, Stephen Dinan, is the author of Sacred America, Sacred World: Fulfilling Our Mission in Service to All, (https://www.sacredamerica.net/special/) where he suggests that a miraculous spontaneous remission for our species is possible… Read more here

The Great Upwising and the New Common Sense

Aired Tuesday, 24 July 2018, 5:00 PM EST

How to Establish Government By the People By Creating an Ecosystem for Civic Engagement. An Interview with … Me!

As I notice how easy it is to get caught up in the drama of Trump vs. anti-Trump, and how important it is for us to hold a meta-conversation about politics, I have sometimes felt I have been talking to myself.

Well, fair enough. This week I WILL be talking to myself. My interview is with me, as I look to glean what I have learned in nine months of interviewing solutionaries on Wiki Politiki Radio, and particularly my work with Richard Lang and Lupton Abshire to bring about a National Town Square as “freedom of assembly 3.0.” Read more here…

Aired Tuesday, 17 July 2018, 5:00 PM EST

Comedy as “Sacred Space” and Cartoons on the Radio – How Levity Uplifts Us in Unfunny Times

Aired Tuesday, 19 June 2018, 5:00 PM EST

A Conversation with:

Comedian Alicia Dattner and

Cartoonist Brian Narelle

What is the state of satire when “reality” is more perversely paradoxical than any comedy routine?

What happens when much of comedy censorship comes from … the left?

What’s funny in a world that has become insanely serious?

To address these sticky icky questions on this week’s show, I’ve invited two of my favorite “cosmic comic co-hearts”, Alicia Dattner and Brian Narelle. Read more here…

An Independent Movement to Activate “the Progressive Majority”

Aired Tuesday, 12 June 2018, 5:00 PM EST

A Conversation With Nick Brana, Founder and National Director of Movement for a People’s Party

A couple of weeks ago, we had as our guest on Wiki Politiki Erik Fogg, whose book, Wedged: How You Became a Tool of the Partisan Political Establishment and How to Start Thinking for Yourself Again talks about how both political tribes are mobilized by fear and anger to take polarized, intractable positions. A recent book by a Yale professor John Bargh, Before You Know It: The Unconscious Reasons We Do What We Do, goes even further in suggesting that liberals can be made more conservative by invoking fear, and conservatives more liberal by creating a sense of safety.

Which brings us to this week’s guest, Nick Brana. Read more here…

Spiritual Climate Change: Beyond “Hopium”, Denial and Despair

Aired Tuesday, 5 June 2018, 5:00 PM EST

A Conversation with:

Michael Dowd, Author of Thank God for Evolution, and

Michael Mielke, Author of Delusions and Contradictions

As the two political parties keep our attention focused on “identity issues”, the elephant (and donkey) in the living room is the IDENTICAL ISSUE we face — our human civilization spinning itself outside the web of life. And as Swami has said, if we lose the Earth there goes the GDP.

This week, two Mikes share the mike to speak freely and frankly about the climate change issue — how and why it has been ignored and side-stepped, and why our species has a spiritual imperative to face the music and find new ways of dancing together. As Michael Mielke points out in his recent e-book, Delusions and Contradictions, neither conservatives nor progressives have REALLY confronted climate change, and the changes we need to make to preserve some form of human civilization on our planet. How the Two-Party System Gave the American People a Wedgie

Aired Tuesday, 29 May 2018, 5:00 PM EST

A Conversation with Erik Fogg, Author of Wedged: How You Became a Tool of the Partisan Political Establishment and How to Start Thinking for Yourself Again

I know I have shared this story before, but given our current political “shituation”, it’s worth sharing again. On the Sunday before the 2016 election, 60 Minutes gathered 25 prospective voters from across the political spectrum together, and asked them, “Who will be voting for the candidate of their choice this Tuesday?”

Three people raised their hands.

They were then asked, “And how many of you will be voting AGAINST another candidate?”

The remaining 22 people raised their hands.

How did this come about? And how is it that the American public has become so polarized that the only thing they agree on is that the system isn’t working? Read more here…

The Future of Children – Providing a Love-Based Education for Every Child

Aired Tuesday, 22 May 2018, 5:00 PM EST

A Conversation with Educational Pioneer Phil Moore, Author of “The Future of Children”

There was a joke years ago about how we will know when the world is right-side-up: Schools and children will get all the resources they require to thrive, and the Air Force will have to hold a bake sale every time they want to build a new bomber.

This joke has gotten less and less funny over the years, particularly now when the word “school” is too often paired with the word “shooting”. As the toll seems to be mounting from our societal “priorities” that put nurturance last, here comes a book that not only asserts that children will have a future, but tells us a “love-based education” is the key to that future. We Humans Have MORE THAN ENOUGH to Transition to an Ecological Civilization!

Aired Tuesday, 15 May 2018, 5:00 PM EST

A Conversation with Timothy Nobles, Author of MORE THAN ENOUGH

As a follow-up to our conversation with David Korten last week in regards to what the Chinese call “an ecological civilization”, this week’s guest Timothy Nobles challenges conventional and even unconventional wisdom by asserting:

We have much more than enough capability and resources for all of us humans to live in graceful abundance, with no one who is now prosperous needing to revert to a less soul-satisfying lifestyle. Simultaneously, we have more than enough of everything we require to rapidly convert to a skillful symbiotic relationship with the Earth and with all other life forms on Earth that we can sustain for hundreds of millions of years. Navigating the Human Transition to an Ecological Civilization

Aired 8 May 2018 – 5:00 PM EDT

A Conversation with Economist and Author David Korten

David Korten’s life and work can probably be summed up in this quote: “We will prosper in the pursuit of life, or we will perish in the pursuit of money. The choice is ours.”

As the unfolding of environmental disasters continues, the window of opportunity for this choice seems to be narrowing. But again, another quote, this one from Samuel Johnson: “When a man knows he is to be hanged…it concentrates his mind wonderfully.” Read more here…

Heartening News on Our Current Political Shituation — Material Reality MAY NOT Actually Exist!

Aired Tuesday, 24 April 2018, 5:00 p.m. EDT

A Conversation with Jungian Author Paul Levy

A number of years ago, I picked up a book with a fascinating title — The Madness of George Bush. The author Paul Levy, a Jungian theorist who had a life-changing personal experience that helped him recognize the dream-like nature of life and reality, suggested that the scenario playing in the world was a reflection of the inner workings of the human psyche. The not-so-mellow drama being out-pictured was a way for our species to come to grips with the inner pictures that have subconsciously ruled us for so long. Read more here...

Can the “Food Revolution” Unite Us?

Aired Tuesday, 17 April 2018, 5:00 PM EST

A Conversation with Food Activist Ocean Robbins

Until now the two-party duopoly has kept us divided by “identity” issues so that we have been unable to unite around “identical” issues, those all of us share in common like clean air, clean water, clean food and clean government. As more people from both the conservative and progressive “tribes” begin to awaken around the need for unadulterated, nutritious food — and also begin to explore medicine beyond drugs and surgery — there is a new potential for a unifying force that can “overgrow” the misrepresentations by big Pharma and agribusiness.
